Diana Lyn Bello-Castillo – Corporate and Commercial Lawyer
Atty. Diana Lyn B. Bello-Castillo is a senior commercial lawyer who has been a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines since 2012, and a member of the ASEAN Law Association since 2013. Prior to joining Kittelson & Carpo, Diana was an associate in Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW), one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Philippines, as member of its Corporate and Special Projects Department.
At ACCRALAW, Diana engaged in commercial law practice focusing on special projects, energy, acquisitions, joint ventures, government procurement, ship registration and sale, incorporation of domestic companies, and licensing of foreign branches and representative offices. She also has extensive experience in handling corporate secretarial work, and has drafted and prepared minutes and board resolutions for the Firm’s various Filipino and foreign-owned client corporations. Her work at ACCRALAW allowed her to review contracts, prepare legal opinions and memorandums on a vast array of legal matters, including among other things, Philippine insurance law, renewable energy, insolvency, banking, and maritime law.
In 2010, Diana was an intern with the Office of the Solicitor General, the law firm of the Republic of the Philippines, where she primarily assisted in the research and drafting of motions, position papers, and pleadings for various government cases. During the same year, she was also an intern in the University of the Philippines (UP) Office of Legal Aid where she did pro bono work for indigent clients on various labor, civil, and criminal cases. In 2009, she was appointed as research-assistant for Justice Marvic MVF Leonen, then Dean of the UP College of Law (UP Law), to head the UP Law Professional Enhancement Program.
Diana is a fourth generation lawyer who completed her undergraduate degree in Management (with minor in English Literature) from Ateneo de Manila University-Loyola Schools in 2007. She thereafter obtained her Juris Doctor degree from UP Law in 2011 where she was the recipient of the Maria Clara Lopez Campos Prize for Best Paper in Corporation Law, an award granted for excellence in legal research writing. She was also an awardee of the Dean’s Medal for Leadership for her services as Presiding Officer of the UP Law Paralegal Volunteers Organization and as Commissioner of the 2009 UP Law Bar Operations Commission. During her senior year, she was part of the UP Law Moot Court team that represented the country in Tokyo, Japan for the 2010 Asia Cup International Moot Court Competition where she and the team won two (2) out of the top three (3) prizes – Best Speaker (individual) and Best Memorial (team), respectively.
