BI Releases Advisory Relative to Visa Application, Waived Penalties, and Suspended Transactions in the Philippines

BI Advisory Visa Application

The Bureau of Immigration (BI), in a public advisory on May 4, clarifies directives on application for visa extension, waived penalties, and certain exemptions from the suspended transactions.

BI transactions shall remain suspended except for the ff.:

  • Outbound passengers seeking to depart the Philippines

ON EXPIRED VISA

Filing of applications for visa extension shall be allowed and exempted from fines and penalties provided that the visa of foreign nationals expires within the period of suspension.*

Outbound passengers applying for visa extension shall also be waived from paying fines and penalties provided that their visa extension expired within the period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and General Community Quarantine (GCQ). 

*Allowed filings and waived penalties shall apply only upon submission of applications within thirty (30) days from the lifting of the suspension.
