Bureau of Immigration Updates Arrival and Departure Stamps in the Philippines
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) made their updated arrival and departure stamps available at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on December 29 – 30, 2023.
The change is a part of the BI’s attempts to strengthen security protocols while enabling easier entrance and exit procedures for visitors entering or departing the Philippines.
The arrival and departure stamps have recently been revised in response to the changing security environment, highlighting the need for regular revisions to travel documentation.
Moreover, in order to align global best practices to ensure the authenticity and integrity of immigration stamps, the redesigned stamps have updated security features.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco highlighted the relevance of these changes, noting, “The Bureau of Immigration is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of security in our immigration procedures. The updated arrival and departure stamps are a proactive measure to maintain the security and credibility of our immigration process, ensuring the safety of our borders while providing efficient service to travelers.”
In addition to strengthening security, frequent revisions to stamp designs are necessary to avoid fraudulent actions by illegal entities trying to duplicate or misuse official immigration stamps.
The integrity of immigration operations is protected by the periodic review of these designs, which is an essential preventive step against fraudulent practices. The updated stamps are now available in the NAIA terminals and will be available at other international airports by the first quarter of 2024.
